Our Staff

Lucy Fernandez is the executive director of Su Casa De Esperanza.  She graduated from the University of Texas Pan American with a Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) and Masters of Education (MEd.) degrees with certification in Counseling and Guidance and Mid Management.  Lucy has 34 years experience in the field of education.  Lucy resides in Weslaco with her husband, Al, and is the mother of two children--Tanya and Javier, and grandmother of Alyssa.   Lucy believes strongly in the value of education and the powerful influence of parenting on children's development.  As executive director, she oversees the programs offered in the Las Milpas and Progreso centers.


Dalia Cerda warmly welcomes all visitors to Su Casa De Esperanza.  As office manager, she is responsible for the day to day operation of Su Casa De Esperanza.  Her duties include bookkeeping, program statistics, scheduling, maintaining business records, and other administrative duties. 
Staff members serve as home visitors and instructors for the various programs.  Staff members are residents of the local colonias, and are, therefore, familiar with the community.  The staff receives extensive training regarding program objectives and receives ongoing inservice training including lessons on prenatal education and nutrition, stages of child development, and outcomes assessment. 
Staff members completed a certification program offered through Texas A&M University CHUD Colonias Program. 
Staff colaboration is important when working with our families.
